Heart warming

In My Incipiency on May 26, 2008 at 12:56 am

I can’t seem to figure whether its the lack-there-of heart (its hollow!) or maybe the perpetual frozen state it is in; I just pray that I can find the esteemed sincerity I sorely need during this CAP sojourn. Well well poems deep and dangerous – who gives a damn? I’m leaping in.

Paraphernalia {just nonsense} from Warwick

Downfall

Would the age of men come crashing down?

As men donned their metal tunics

And dames retreated to iron caves a-deep

The horses shrieked – those harsh grated cries

(Like blacksmith tongs welding the steel – soon to be mail)

Their plumes flutter – moribund moths in a dying breeze

Prolonged and stretched beyond the hilly streets

Where glinting specks of feral men make their wait

The herald trumpets the death proclamation

Of shattered spears and splintered shields

A crown flung down in despair – at the maker’s feet.

Hands clutched in weary conviction, silent lips hewn of grieving stones

Would they transport the mute cries to deities above?

Divine intervention; was it too late?

From the mountain above, they watched the turmoil unfold

Mangled bodies and crushed souls – the numberless pains all untold

A slick sword jab, a rough axe throw

Death comes-a-knocking too quickly – they all know

The last of defenders soon fell to their knees

All that remained of the stronghold was Christianity

On an alcove, bloodied and marred lay the Holy Grail

A last enigmatic reminder of the macabre fairytale

Liquorice, Lollipops and licks

Controversy.
Its just so blatant. Soon my namesake as I-Phraim will be forsaken.

Zhengyu: hey madonna
Zhengyu: your phone isn’t working
(I really felt like saying *I’m hanging up on you.*)
Zhengyu: are you busty?
Zhengyu: ooops i meant busy

Oh whatever. I then digressed into discussing Madonna with Benjamin. And yes, Madonna is still a total bitch! Come on; she’s no diva and yet she pines for attention… Appalling. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23690062-5006024,00.html
<ABOUT to turn 50, Madonna has still managed to shock the crowds at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, with a string of four-letter expletives and scandalous off-stage demands.>

To sum up, Greg asserts that she’s an old whore and “i bet her vagina smells like old fish and leather”. Crudely put but very true. Either way I still like 4 minutes. Oh, I forgot to add, she looks like a fugly drag queen.

Worn to a frazzle

Sabah was DIVINE; I have finally attained nirvana. Words alone cannot express the sheer madness of the entirety of surviving Sabah but this experience is certainly one I would treasure for a lifetime. The fleeting pains and pressures of life back home – forgotten – in face of the decadence of civility, I retained my sanity for most of the trip. THAT’S an accomplishment.

Kudos to the instructors there who spiced things up; and the amusing moments the ‘Sabahers’ shared.
- My new found friends in Hang Tuah; thanks for the entertaining moments we had and the activities we partook in
- Greg and Hui Yao for their wonderful Pinoy (Filipino) accents – Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind; oh the mirth and guffaws!
- Yong Zhi for the mad moments – Cleopatra, Lady Choi, I-Phraim and all…
- And to all whom I had the opportunity to speak with, thanks for the joy

Litanies of worry

In The mystifications on May 10, 2008 at 11:51 am

I’m being shipped off to Sabah – its really difficult to decide whether I’m beset with trepidations or nervous exuberance’s. Yesterday’s PTG was divine; it was amusing to listen to how the parents highlighted all their woes and worries – of course the answers we appropriated to them addressed all their queries.

Its almost the end of term 2 and on hindsight; it was both the best and worst times of my life. There are so many more nice people whom I’ve met and learnt to appreciate in life. And the real depths of life – must academics determine the joy we so weakly grasp onto? Ephemeral and transient. Nonetheless have a blessed sabbatical week.

8 Femmes

In Haute Couture on May 8, 2008 at 10:21 pm

A must watch for every bitch or bitch to be. It’ll be a major letdown if you fail to understand what I’m highlighting here. *sniggers* A brief synopsis is attached for those who would like to delve deeper into this delightful plot.

One morning at an isolated mansion in the snowy countryside of 1950s France, a family is gathered for the holiday season. But there will be no celebration at all because their beloved patriarch has been murdered! The killer can only be one of the eight women closest to the man of the house. Was it his powerful wife? His spinster sister-in-law? His miserly mother-in-law? Maybe the insolent chambermaid or the loyal housekeeper? Could it possibly have been one of his two young daughters? A surprise visit from the victim’s chic sister sends the household into a tizzy, encouraging hysterics, exacerbating rivalries, and encompassing musical interludes. Comedic situations arise with the revelations of dark family secrets. Seduction dances with betrayal. The mystery of the female psyche is revealed. There are eight women and each is a suspect. Each has a motive. Each has a secret. Beautiful, tempestuous, intelligent, sensual, and dangerous…one of them is guilty. Which one is it?

Singaporean Born Chinese

In The mystifications on May 4, 2008 at 3:51 pm

According to a transcript posted on the CNN website, the famously curmudgeonly Cafferty said: “We continue to import their junk with the lead paint on them and the poisoned pet food and export, you know, jobs to places where you can pay workers a dollar a month to turn out the stuff that we’re buying from Wal-Mart.

“So I think our relationship with China has certainly changed,” he continued. “I think they’re basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they’ve been for the last 50 years.” <Sourced from http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article3756437.ece>

As a banana that I am, I still have a yellow exterior. I find myself reconciling with the identity as a Chinese. I find it disgusting that such individuals in particular make such scathing and sweeping generalizations of Chinese products, Chinese leaders and Chinese people. Its not that they haven’t erred. They have made mistakes and we shouldn’t give them too much leeway; but this is really appalling. Blatantly disrespectful of China and Chinese. Bitter and bitchy – Jack Cafferty. . .

Oh wait; I can’t speak standard Chinese anyway.

Clarifications – I’m crazed

FYI; For those who are not acquainted with Korean sob stories, I ‘ll do a little plot overview about Jewel in the Palace.

Corruption is rampant. Choi family is powerful. Choi family abuses power and wealth. Their plot in killing queen exposed by Jang Geum’s mum. Choi family cleverly poisons her. FAILS. IF only they succeeded… Jang Geum’s mum runs, meets husband, gives birth to Jang Geum. Lady Choi finds out truth. Sends Assasins for revenge. Jang Geum’s mum is murdered. GOODNESS GRACIOUS :D

Jang Geum becomes enraged. EVIL! Seeks revenge her whole life. AND in the end she succeeeds, tragically. Choi family displaced from power. Lady Choi is knocked off her pedestal as the Chief Lady in the Royal Kitchen. She becomes EMO! Looks for Jang Geum’s mother to seek forgiveness. Apparently Koreans don’t know what is forgive and forget. And poor Lady Choi is delirious, she hears the calls of the dead (people she plotted and manipulated against; and ya they were all murdered by her :D ). It must be guilt I think. And ya, Lady Choi takes the leap of faith. LALALA, spllottch. She topples over the cliff and dies. Story ends, good triumphs over evil; SADLY.

And so Joel asserts, Lady Choi died because she’s anorexic. My condolences. Seriously speaking, one should actually watch the whole saga enfold, it employs great usage of emotions and motifs. I even note the usage of extended metaphors in a few sections, certainly a great point for highlighting the detriments of power struggles in societal contexts. It’s really one of the most truthful portrayals of humans’ desires at its ‘rawest’ and ‘truest’. Well, I can’t say for sure whether manipulation, plotting and scheming will pay off in the long run, but we should always try to hold on to the very basis of human sainity  – our respective value systems. BTW I love those eyes; although they’re not blue and sparkling :(

So there, Lady Choi got bogged down by HRP too.
